Playing in the snow is great fun but it’s also brilliant for developing our gross motor skills. Forming snowballs, throwing snowballs, pushing big snowballs for snowmen. Not to mention all the amazing team work! #Abbeyfieldsreception
Reception have been busy learning about our new text. Can you guess what the story is? We have also worked on our understanding of numbers to 10 and started thinking about measuring when building in the construction area. #AbbeyfieldsTalkForWriting
Year 1 had fun in computing today - programming our robots!
A busy few days in Reception have seen us visited by author Dom Conlon, explore bridge building techniques inspired by our T4W text The Three Billy Goats Gruff and continue our work on number recognising, subitising and matching! #AbbeyfieldsReception
Successful first day of @ncbfest with @abbeyfieldsfs and @dom_conlon yesterday. Bookish joy and smiles all round!

Year 1 and 2 were very lucky to have a tree climbing and felling demonstration by @N_landCouncil Arborist team. As you can tell by the squeals they were impressed! 😀🌲
And so it begins….🐸
Year 3 adding the finishing touches to their wooden person project!
They coppiced a tree, cut the body and head out with a bow saw, cut and split the arms and legs with loppers and a billhook and drilled the holes to attach the limbs.
Amazing woodwork!! 🪵
A beautiful frosty start to the day in Forest School ❄️
Master woodworker in the making 🪵
This half term we are green woodworking going through the full process of coppicing a tree, sawing it to length, splitting using a froe, shaping a billet with a draw knife on the shave horse and then turning the billet on the pole lathe 🪵 🪚
