Morpeth Explorers – Forest School Offer

We are introducing a unique Early Years offer in our expansive outdoor environment in collaboration with Explorers. Morpeth Explorers is Abbeyfield’s own Forest School Nursery.

On joining us your children will learn to love the world around them with our unique 9 months-3 year old Forest School Nursery, where they will spend time learning and playing in the natural world for as much of their day as possible, whatever the weather. We do have indoor spaces available for each of our groups of children which they may access in bad weather, nevertheless, the ethos and how we teach, from the children’s interests, remains the same.

Our focus is on each child being empowered to lead their own learning. The children are led by qualified teachers and specialist Early Years Qualified staff, ensuring that they meet the Early Years curriculum expectations and are being challenged where appropriate.

We understand that early intervention is key to supporting children with specific and additional needs, as such we are adept, and uniquely positioned, at identifying and removing barriers to learning. This additional support is led by our SENDco.

Our provision is open to your children 50 weeks of the year from 7.30am to 5.30pm, offering wraparound care for children aged 3+. We accept government funding, childcare vouchers and tax free childcare applications.

Morpeth Explorer’s Unique Offer at Abbeyfields

  • The children will be provided with the opportunity to lead their own learning in a beautiful, natural environment.
  • Communication with parents and carers is second to none, with updates throughout the day of what the children have been doing.
  • A community around your family, ensuring you are well supported and informed throughout your child’s learning journey at Abbeyfields.
  • An ethos of caring for the world, reusing and recycling (including clothing and toys) wherever possible.
  • With strong influences from attachment theory, the Highscope approach to child-led learning and the Forest School Approach we create an environment for healthy and positive growth both physically and mentally.
